Privacy Policy

About this policy

This Privacy Policy describes the personal information Plonq collects when you use the Plonq app and website, how that information is used, and the choices you have. Plonq is provided in Australia and handles personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.

If you have a question about this policy or about your personal information, please contact us at support@plonq.com.au.

Information we collect

Account and profile information. When you create a Plonq account, we collect your email address, your sign-in credentials (or a social sign-in identifier if you sign in with Google or Apple), and the name, nickname, username and date of birth you provide. If you add a profile photo, a phone number or payment details (such as a PayID or PayPal username), we collect those too.

Content you create. Plonq stores the groups you create, the expenses you record, who you share them with, and any photos of receipts you upload. You decide what to put in, who to share it with, and when to delete it.

Technical information. When you use Plonq, certain information is collected automatically — device type and operating system, app version, IP address, connection details, basic usage information and crash diagnostics. This is used to operate the service and investigate problems.

Communications. If you contact us for support or send feedback through the app, we keep a record of the message and our reply so we can follow it through.

Plonq does not collect your precise location, your contacts, your microphone audio, your browsing history, or any advertising identifiers. Plonq shows no advertising and does not build advertising profiles.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.

When information is shared

The people you share with. Members of a group you create see your nickname and username within that group together with the entries you contribute to it. Friends you accept see your profile photo and any payment details you have chosen to display. Your email address is never shown to other users.

Other Plonq users. Your username is searchable so that people you know can find you and send a friend request. Your email address is not searchable.

Service providers. We rely on third-party service providers to run Plonq — for example, cloud hosting and storage, push notification delivery, transactional email, crash reporting and abuse-prevention. These providers process your information on our behalf, are bound by confidentiality and security obligations, and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. Some of these providers operate outside Australia. By using Plonq, you consent to your information being disclosed to them for the limited purpose of operating the service.

Where required by law. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to comply with a valid legal request, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Plonq, our users or others.

Business transfers. If Plonq is ever sold, merged or reorganised, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will tell you before this happens.

Where your information is held, and for how long

Your account and activity information is hosted in Australia. We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information is removed within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain it to meet a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, prevent fraud, or for legitimate record-keeping. Receipt images you upload are removed automatically a short time after upload, and earlier if you delete them yourself.

If you create an account but never verify your email, the account is removed automatically within a short period.

Your choices and rights

You can:

To make a request, email support@plonq.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable period and in line with Australian privacy law.

If you have a privacy complaint, please tell us first by email so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Deleting your account

You can delete your Plonq account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). If you can't sign in, email support@plonq.com.au from the email address on the account and we will delete it within 7 business days.

When you delete your account, your personal information is removed. Groups that still have other members continue to exist — entries you contributed to remain in those groups so the running balances still work for the remaining members.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, access controls that limit who can read what, password hashing, and abuse-prevention safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information sent over the internet will never be intercepted. Please report any security concerns to support@plonq.com.au.

Children

Plonq is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has signed up, email support@plonq.com.au and we will delete the account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email before they take effect.
